Housing Support Worker at Our Way Leeds
Experience: Tina has worked with Turning Lives Around for a year having previously worked as a housing worker at Yorkshire Housing. Tina has a nursing degree and experience in adult and child safeguarding.
My job as a Housing Support Worker is to help young people to gain and sustain a property but to also offer a well-rounded service which can help them to lead independent lives. This ranges from benefit applications, education and physical and mental health support.
I was first attracted to the role at TLA by the difference they make to other people’s lives. TLA turn people’s lives around and help them to sustain a healthy life.
The OWL south scheme offers a unique service to clients aged 16-24, helping service users move from childhood into adulthood at a crucial time in their development. My team always prioritise the best outcome for each individual service user and are great to work with.
I love constantly meeting new people and facing new challenges. I find my role as a Housing Support Worker really rewarding and no one day is ever the same!
I recently worked with a street homeless young lady who fell pregnant to an abusive partner who was 10 years her senior. We’ve helped her to establish a tenancy and separate from her unhealthy relationship with her partner. She has also given birth to a healthy baby who is now 4 months old!
TLA is a continuously changing organisation that champions being inclusive. Their services are person-centred where staff and clients are never judged. Whether it’s people from different ethnic backgrounds or the transgender community, TLA will offer support to anyone that reaches out.
I would highly recommend working for TLA and their services to other people. I work with a great team that treat me fairly and equally and I enjoy coming into work every day.
If I were to sum up TLA in three words, it would be: a great experience!< Back to Testimonials
