Turning Lives Around (TLA) has a wide variety of accommodation designed to suit the needs of our clients and the services we deliver.
In total we manage 153 properties and 263 bed spaces as of January 2021, three of which we own, that include three intensive support environments for adults with complex support needs and a further two supported environments – one for young people and the other for women with alcohol issues - all of which are staffed 24/7.
Our other properties range from self-contained flats, houses or studio flats for single people or couples, shared accommodation in 2 – 4 bedroomed properties where clients have their own bedroom but share a communal kitchen, bathroom and leisure rooms.
The properties are managed by the service to which they belong; and the facilitation of the void management, allocation and turnaround of properties, furniture renewal, health and fire safety of buildings is part of workers’ roles to coordinate. Properties are checked when tenants move out and any necessary repairs, decorating and furniture replacement completed within an agreed time frame. Major or specialised repairs are carried out by approved contractors, while minor repairs, cleaning and decorating are undertaken by TLA’s own handyman or the organisation’s social enterprise, Clean Start.
All our accommodation meets The Decent Homes Standards and Leeds City Council’s Rental Standard. Gas and fire safety checks plus electrical PAT testing are regularly carried out on all properties and the relevant safety certification is provided.
