Turning Lives Around has always thought outside the box to create sustainable futures for our clients. Faced with the challenge of helping our clients into employment we set up Clean Start as a Community Interest Company (CIC) nine years ago.
Originally a cleaning business, Clean Start has set itself apart by tackling the projects other companies refuse and has expanded to include decorating which is to grow following the award of a £15,000 grant. Clean Start takes on:
- deep cleaning
- house clearance
- home removals
- hoarding jobs
Clean Start is now the go to company for private residents, public sector and private landlords who need houses cleaned thoroughly and hygienically quickly.
From a social enterprise which provided part-time employment for existing and former clients, Clean Start now provides full time employment for five people, plus one part-timer, who were all former TLA clients. On top of this, there are plans to recruit some more part time painters as the business grows.
As TLA looks beyond Leeds to provide housing solutions we will roll out the Clean Start model to other locations, including within the Wakefield Council area where we have a new initiative.
Clean Start customers include Leeds City Council, Kirklees Council, Housing Associations and construction and infrastructure specialists, Morgan Sindall.
