Sweeping up thanks to charity donation!
LEEDS based social enterprise, Clean Start, will be sweeping up thanks to a recent commendation and charity donation.
The cleaning, clearance and decorating specialist business which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year was nominated for an award of cleaning products by its janitorial supplier and at the same time attracted the attention of professional decorating manufacturers PPG.
“PPG is better known as Johnstone’s Paints and they contacted us as a local charity to offer us their damaged tins surplus. It’s worth a significant sum each month to us,” explained Clean Start manager, Amanda Lister.
“At the same time C21 Hygiene, our janitorial supplier nominated us for a donation of £250 of supplies from Robert Scott Janitorial products.
“We specialise in deep hoarding jobs that risk people’s tenancies and cleaning and decorating for people who can’t afford commercial rates but struggle to look after their homes. These donations will allow us to do more in our anniversary year.”
“For some of our employees it is their first step into employment, many have gone on to other full time roles and others have remained with us to turn their lives around.
“We work with a lot of local authority social care teams who recommend clients. It allows us to make a massive difference to both employees and clients. Many clients are able to stay in their homes thanbks to us,” added Amanda.
Janet Spencer is CEO of TLA. She said: “Clean Start was a leap of faith ten years ago, but we have proved that even those furthest from the workplace can become proud members of society making a contribution. These donations will help us and them to do more for more people/.”
Gillian Pitts of PPG said; “We were looking to work with charities in West Yorkshire aligned with our business sector to make a very real difference. Clean Start enables us to fulfill our Corporate Social Responsibility remit in a practical way.”
The donations come at a time when Clean Start has invested in a new van. They are now looking for sponsorship for the vans. Interested companies can contact Amanda Lister at Turning Lives Around 0113 276 0616
