Karen Dennison

Senior Housing Support Worker at Beacon Dispersed

Karen is an experienced support worker who has worked with Turning Lives Around (TLA) for 11 years.

I oversee the work being done at Beacon Dispersed and ensure that a standard of excellence is being maintained. This involves maintaining property, listening to client feedback and highlighting any issues the service may need to look at more closely. I also help and support service users to gain and sustain a property.

I was attracted to TLA by its excellent reputation; it is a leading organisation in preventing homelessness. It offers a wide range of support for a diverse group of people. They will take on service users that other organisations may shy away from and are experienced in dealing with multi-complex needs.

It’s hugely rewarding to help and support service users to lead healthy independent lives. I also enjoy working with my colleagues and have great leadership and management who listen to client feedback and engaging in regular staff training.

TLA has grown from strength to strength since I joined 11 years ago. Turning Lives Around is a forward-thinking organisation always looking for new approaches and interventions to support service users. TLA is not afraid to commit to difficult challenges and has a hopeful outlook to help inspire change.

I would recommend working for Turning Lives Around and their services to other people. TLA offer a diverse range of services resulting in a unique support package for everyone.

Moving to TLA has been the best decision in my career and I hope to stay here until retirement! It is like working with one big family and I feel lucky to be able to contribute to such an organisation and help make a change.

If I were to sum up TLA in three words, it would be: challenging, exciting and rewarding!
