OWL Emergency Accommodation

Turning Lives Around has joined forces with GIPSIL and Foundation to launch Our Way Leeds Emergency Accommodation. Young people aged between 16 and 25 who are homeless can be quickly referred to access emergency accommodation, help and support.

The project has nine emergency beds that provide short term accommodation for up to six weeks plus three short-hold tenancies enabling a longer stay. Our service is staffed 24 hours a day to provide emergency intervention by working collaboratively with other agencies to reduce risk, ensure young person’s needs are met and identify long-term accommodation.

Staff at OWL Emergency Accommodation provide client-centred support by helping young people identify their goals and aspirations set in their support plans. We will help them feel safe and secure, and support them to develop independent life skills, access education, training or work, access and maintain benefits. As well as this, we support young people who might have an issue with substance misuse, Child Sexual Exploitation, domestic abuse, mental health or family relationships.

Feedback about OWL emergency accommodation from clients:

"The staff are helpful, hardworking, understanding and caring. I feel safe at OWL; staff seem to genuinely care about us all."

Feedback from a family member:

"I still support my son; I am happy he was placed at OWL; it is much nicer than I thought it would be; the staff are all friendly, hardworking and very knowledgeable. My son is very well supported, and staff have helped him to develop into a young man. I had a tour, and I like the rooms and the lounge, such an inviting environment."

Feedback from a professional:

"OWL works very hard to guide and shape young people's development, and they organise many groups which are good for young people's self-esteem and confidence."

Please note, we do not take self-referrals and conduct our referral process over the phone. Once we complete the referral process and gather all the necessary information to help inform our risk assessment, we will notify the referrer of our decision.
