Donation to help enrich Sustain service users’ lives
A HUGE thank you to Barratt Developments Yorkshire West for their £150 donation to Sustain Wakefield.
The donation was part of a £1,650 package of funding that the homebuilder made at the end of 2021 to eleven local charities for the homeless.
Part of Turning Lives Around, Sustain Wakefield helps those at risk of homelessness to keep their homes and live healthy, independent lives. Through fundraising and donations like those from Barratt Developments West Yorkshire, Sustain Wakefield is able to enrich the lives of their service users with Wellbeing Days, including activities and day trips to places they wouldn’t normally be able to access.
Darren Johnson, Construction Director at Barratt Developments Yorkshire West, said: “Christmas is the time for giving back to people, and this year we wanted to support the charities which do commendable work to help those facing homelessness.
“We are really pleased to have been able to support these eleven charities and hope that our donation helps them to continue providing support to people across West Yorkshire.”
Fran Lomax, Sustain's Volunteer and Peer Development Coordinator, who accepted the £150 donation from Barratt, said: it was very much appreciated.
“Our work is about supporting service users in their homes, helping them to manage their lives to be able to live independently and sustain their tenancies, integrate with their communities and socialise with others in a healthy, fulfilling way. Activity groups, family days and trips are a key part of this and add so much to the work we do and the lives of our service users,” Fran explained.
